LAN, MAN and WAN
Local Area Network (LAN) is a network, which connects relatively short distance such as school campus,Home network, multiple buildings, college campus etc.Most small to large sized business environment use LAN's to make easy to employees to share information. Ethernet based LAN is used mostly in organization.However wireless LAN's become very popular after the emergence of wireless networking.

A Wide Area Network (WAN) spans over multiple geographic locations, which is composed of multiple LAN's.It is similar to LAN but lot bigger and also not limited to single location.Telephone lines, satellite links, fiber optics are used to connect long distances via WAN.The internet can be described as biggest WAN.WAN's are leased from ISP's(Internet Service Providers) and telephone company
