What is a Network?

What is a Network? A network is a club of computers or computing devices connected together in a network to share the resources like file, printer, services etc. or to allow electronic communications. A typical network contains users working in workstations(Pc, laptop etc..), running client operating systems like Windows 8 and store their files on a central server. The server computer has resources like memory, disk space and more processing power compared to client computers. The server machine also runs an Operating System, which has more processing capabilities compared to the client machine. The server may be installed with special software, which is helping it to function as a server.Servers use to serve the request from other programs,the clients.The special software allows file and print services, serve web pages, transfer emails etc.The computers on a network may be linked through cables, telephone lines, radio waves, satellites, or infrared light beams.In simple words networking is the process of linking two or more computing devices to share data.    ON theWORK : while designing a network remember these factor cost, security, speed, topology,scalability,reliability,availability.
